Fuse blown, ECM sensor fuse?

1997 GTP, I Had to jump start the car the battery was completely dead. I let the car idle about thirty minutes. I went to move it put it in drive and the car died, I tried to crank it over a few times and still nothing
Then I started checking fuses under the hood and found the ECM sensor fuse was blown. and also the battery. I replaced it and still it wouldnt start. I started looking at wiring diagrams to look where it ends up and it looks like it goes to the PCM as a pink or orange wire depending on which wiring diagram im looking at. Im confused . I was also told the fuse and relay center is also the ECM. And I also can not get a code from the plug in under the dash It just tells me Error from the Code Reader I tested it on a differrent vehicle and it works fine. So im not getting any reading from the car. Could I have ruined the ECM or the PCM. The starter is trning the engine but Its not getting ny fuel or spark. I jumped the fuel pump and the coil pack in the relays to a hot source and they come on but still would not start. It sounds like the PCM is not powering up. Please help Im very frustrated and to much of a tightwod to take it to a dealer

Re: Fuse blown, ECM sensor fuse?

What a bummer! Sounds like the jump start took out your PCM. On the wiring diagrams you have VIN 1 because it's a GTP so only those are applicable. Is your GTP stock or modded? Do you need any other information? Let me know.

The ECM SENSE fuse is the Battery power to the PCM from the Underhood Electrical center
“Im confused . I was also told the fuse and relay center is also the ECM. And I also can not get a code from the plug in under the dash It just tells me Error from the Code Reader I tested it on a different vehicle and it works fine.”

The PCM and the Underhood Electrical center are 2 different components.
There is a possibility that you may have damaged the PCM when you jump started the vehicle, but I doubt it since the vehicle ran until you placed it into gear.
I would venture to guess that it is possible that the Orange wire has some chaffed insulation and is shorting to ground causing the fuse to blow.
The Orange wire goes to PCM Connector 1 (blue connector)
The reason you are not able to read the PCM is because of the blown fuse (Modules need 3 things to communicate,Power, Ground and a communication line)
Try replacing the fuse, if it blows immediately then you have a direct short to ground on the Orange wire…take a close look at the wire and see if you find any chaffed insulation and wire exposed..it doesn’t take much.
Don't be afraid of the dealer..not all of them are bad>

Re: Fuse blown, ECM sensor fuse?

What a coincidence. I work the Regal forum too and found this. Maybe the info is relevant. What do you suggest on this one GMMerlin.

BTW - I agree not all dealers are bad.
