Best tires for s-10

I've been looking around for new tires and i was wondering what anyone would recommend. I drive a 4x4 2000 S-10. I want something for the mud but to be good on highways...and that will last for a reasonable amount of time. Currently i have no lift and would rather to keep it way. I have been interested in the MT-754 Buckshot Mudder, however, with my 17" rim size, the smallest tire is 31" and would be cutting it close without lift. Any recommendation would be great. Thanks!

Re: Best tires for s-10

So you decided against the body lift. That's fine. A suspension lift is better anyways.

I think that your really limited by your 17" wheels.

If it was my truck I'd just stick to what you have, but also get a set of 15" wheels from the wreckers and mount the mud tires of your choice.

I do like the looks of the Buckshot Mudder, but haven't been able to find any in Canada. I might have to just order them from the U.S.
They appear to be one of the best mud tires, and they are a reasonable price.

my personal oponion , BFG all terrain's , some people say they suck , but ive had to sets of em now , and man , they ride good , very little road noise if any , great grip on road , dry or wet , and pretty decent off road grip too , and i belive theyre rated for 40K miles , very puncture resistant , and plus , i think they look cool , lol

Re: Best tires for s-10

I hate to say this WT, since I don't like BFG tires, but your right!

I know several people that get well over 60,000 miles on them.

If you look at my Blazer pics you'll see a set of All Terrain KO's on it. They're even decent in mud.

Plus they're rated for extreme weather conditions (they're basicly 1 of the few all season tires that can actually handle snow)

I just don't like the brand, because I have seen some bad TA's with peeling tread's

Re: Best tires for s-10

I don't like rotating tires from side to side, and my street rod tires are 8" wide on the front, and 10" wide out back. So that wouldn't work

frist off , dont think your gonna be puttin BFG all terrains on a street rod , lol , but yeah , side to side doesnt do anything for the chooping , i know it has something to to with the drive tires not chopping , all you can do with AT's is front to back

Re: Best tires for s-10

I looked at a mid 80's Mercury Cougar today, and it had All Terrains out back.

I didn't think that they even made a size that would fit under that old car. What a piece of junk car, I'm leaving it there

I've had two sets of BFG's All-Terrains on my truck and am on my third and have just put a set on my blazer. All are the 30 x 9.5 x 15's. I got about 75,000 miles out of each set. I try to rotate them every 5000 miles bringing the rears to the front on the same side and crossing the fronts to the rears (think this is called the rearward cross). Never had a problem and the wear is very even. I do agree that if you don't rotate these tires there life will be cut very short.
