Unhappy Lugs spinning, wheels stuck, HELP!!

For about three WEEKS my dad and I have been trying to get the Front wheels off. The brakes and lug nuts were corroded and it turns out one wheel is still stuck and we can't get it off. We first noticed that the lugs were spinning(3 of them, got one off so 2 left) when I was taking the wheel off by conventional means..lol. My dad wanted to wait and do more research

but I was like "GO GO GO!!!" so I invited my cousin Jay to help, and he hammered the shitout of one lug nut and the inside of my 16" Iroc rim! I'll get pictures later. Today we finally tried sawing the lug nut off with a dremel tool but all of the circle blades broke in half. The inside thread of the front lugs is very thick. I could sure use some help if I ever hope to get some nice new shocks and brakes on here.

Thanks, and please no I told you so's, it's the thought that counts and I don't blame my cousin, you can barely notice the rim. Please help with these damn spinning lugs! Question: HOW THE F*** DO I GET THE WHEEL OFF? Thanks again.

Drill. First, drill a pilot hole, then move up to a bigger bit, then move up, keep doing this until the lug pops off. You will have to replace the studs, but you don't damage the wheels. Either that or find someone who's really good with a torch and have them burn them out, but I prefer using a drill. It's safer for the wheel, just use high grade bits and expect to have to sharpen them shortly after.

Re: Lugs spinning, wheels stuck, HELP!!

dont they have like some sort of sharp socket thing that you hammer onto the lug and it digs into it and you grab a beast of a breaker bar and just unskrew it???

We're using the drill right now but it's taking a lot of time. This should work but I'll get back to you guys if it doesn't. I plan to replace the whole brake assembly anyway so I don't mind trashing the lugs. It's staying sharp enough and it's going through
Thanks

Can you cut them off from behind and pull the whole wheel off? If you cant do that i would cut flat sides to the back of the lug to hold it with a wrench then try to get the lug nut off. If all else fails drill um out.

Drilled

Drill is working but it got off center and continued drilling outward. Now If you can see it, the lug nut and lug itself are welded together and pretty damn lose to the rim. For fear of drilling directly into the rim I have the idea of drilling completely through the other spinning lug, which wasn't hammered the shit out of and then bring it in the garage, get some jackstand underneath and try to pull the wheel off with forth, considering that other lug nut has lost most of it's thread and HAS NOTHING TO LIVE FOR!!!! so it'll come off.

Any other ideas, does someone want to stop me from doing this? Thanks

Try putting a socket over it, one that fits tightly, put an extension on it, yank it up and down, might break it loose.

I put a wedge between the rim and the bottom of the lug and stood on it, and it didn't bulge, so yanking it off might not work. I really stood on it lol.

I tried redrilling the same lug but now I think i'm close to welding the lug into my rim. I need more advice. Thanks

I know what you mean about the tire place. Seems like they have a compitition to see who can get the lugs on the tightest with their 900 psi air wrenchs.

damn...where i work. If they see us tighten down wheels without torqing them then they are able to write us up if they want. We double torque them. Once with the gun and once with a wrench.

with the gun first or with the wrench first? I wouldn't know how many times the thing got over tightened but I have to deal with it right now, and i've seriously run out of ideas. Mosquitos outside so I'm not working on it anymore right now. But I want to

Can you cut the head off of the lug from the back and pull the bolt off with the tire? I think you might have to trash the rim.
