Re: Revs Jumping!
Well first things first. What car do you have? Year, model, tranny, etc. The more we know the more we can help.
Also you said you checked it via computer, you mean you hooked it up to an OBDII scanner and scanned teh ECU for codes? Next, did this just happen out of hte blue, or was the car recently worked on? Generally erratic idles are caused by vacuum leaks, bad spark plugs, or bad 02 sensors. Bad o2 sensors would typically throw some ECU code and a Check Engine light. Vacuum leaks are pretty easy to start with, so do a search on here or check out www.stealth316.com and build yourself a pressure tester and check for vacuum and intake leaks. Or you could go the ghetto route and spray soapy water all over and look for bubbles, listen for air escaping.

Re: Revs Jumping!
The idle set screw i'd assume is what they're talking about...don't mess with that.

Quote:
http://www.stealth316.com/2-pressuretester.htm Check that out. Essentially, what maybe happening is metered air escaping from a loose hose, pipe, connection. This is called a boost or vacuum leak. They rob you of hp and can cause idling issues. Try to pressure test to find and fix leaks. Another method is spraying soapy water on all pipes and tubes and looking for bubbles where air is escaping...but that is much more primitive and may not be sufficient.
