Courtesy lights problem

I own a '95 Grand Marquis LS. I recently installed a custom sound system consisting of an Alpine headunit, Kicker 4-channel amp, and 4 Kicker speakers. The other day, my courtesy lights were stuck on after I hit the unlock button on my little remote several times. I tried a variety of simple solutions - making sure all the doors were closed, etc. - and the lights finally turned off on their own. The same exact problem happened again and now they won't turn off. I had to remove a fuse (manual said it was #8, but it was actually #15). The courtesy lights are off with the fuse out so I don't drain my battery, but now my stereo system won't work (they both run from the same fuse). I searched the internet high and low for help, but couldn't find any. HELP. PLEASE.

Re: Courtesy lights problem

Hi, I have '93 that did the same thing. I disconnected the positive battery cable and made sure the ambient light sensor (top left side of dash) was uncovered. After a couple of hours, I reconnected the battery and have never had the problem again.
