Clutch Problems - 93 4.3L TBI
I own a 93 S-10...4.3L TBI w/ a 5-speed manual tranny. Its making an anoying WHINING sound w/ the clutch engaged. I have disengaged (coasted) it to see if the sound continues but the sound goes away...this has to be my clutch assembly, right?
I notice a slight slippage of the transmission, especially when the truck is cold at initial start-up, but does ok after 5 minutes....but that whine has got to go. Help please. If you think it need a new pressure plate, flywheel, etc....let me know how to do the work...I have never done this before...I'm sure it is a hassle! Thanks everyone.....this is an awesome forum. |

Re: Clutch Problems - 93 4.3L TBI
It'll most likely be your clutch release bearing making the noise. Often also called the throw out bearing.
You probably have a little bit of time before you have to worry about it though. Replace the full clutch all at once. You can just buy a kit at a reasonable price (for what it contains) If it's a 2wd your lucky. If it's 4x4 it's basicly the same, except way more work You'll need 1 floor jack, some jack stands, some simple hand tools and a way to secure the motor. It'll probably take you about a day the first time if it's 2wd, but allow a full weekend. Probably up to 4 days for a 4x4. I just put the procedure (as I do it) on my web page. Here's the link http://mypage.uniserve.com/~kvsbt/tips/clutch.html |
