hi gdshepard, I have had my 93' for a year and when i got it all the dash lights were on, after regular maintenance and learning from these boards all have gone out, except the ABS light. So yes you can drive it at least until you can have it fixed. The way that i hear it is that each wheel has a sensor so i will post when i have mine done. gl

My ABS problem is a dent in the control box located behind the grille from hitting a deer. I removed and opened the box, straightened out the dent in the metal cover, examined the circuitery (couldn't see any evidence of damage) replaced the unit and changed out the anti-lock fuse under the hood. The dash light still flashes for a few seconds then remains solid. I need to locate a replacement box from a salvage 93 Town Car since there doesn't seem to be any aftermarket boxes available. I have had no luck so far in locating a salvage box.

If it is non traction control then you could probably use any 1992-1994 ABS module. |

No like I said the traction control equipped cars have a different master cylinder and some other things.
Best to just look for a 1992-1994 non-traction control module. I'm pretty sure that cars with traction control will have a sticker saying so on the master cylinder or the lines infront of it. I remember seeing one in a junkyard that said non traction control. Be sure to take your module with you to compare it to the 1992 or even a newer module to ensure that the connections are the same. 1992-1994 Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis will have the same ABS system so you could also use the module from these cars as well, but for these cars ABS was optional. It would also be mounted in the same place. Best place for these parts is an Auto recycler. Good Luck. |
