A dying breed?

Soon (sometime within the next year) the next Silverado will be rolling out. Frankly, this freaks me out a little. If you look at the 88-98 body style, they were the shit. After the 99 came out, they were just poo poo. I am concerned that with all of the improvements that GM has apparently made (like a 35 HP boost across the board, DOD technology, etc.) that our 99-06 trucks will turn to poop.

Re: A dying breed?

It's all about perspective and attitude. As far as I'm concerned, I own a true classic before its time!!!

Thursday of this past week. I was kinda needing some tires anyway, and the tires on them are in much better shape than my old ones. Plus, I think it looks pretty good. I got a pretty good price on them, too. $200 for wheels and tires

Re: A dying breed?

Yeah <cough> I meant to clarify earlier that I mean no offense to anyone who owns a 88-98. I used to want one of those real bad back around 97

Re: A dying breed?

No, I didn't take any offense to that. I understand that's the way most people feel. But I personally LOVE the 88-98 style, and maybe always will. I am just not impressed with the NBS. Actually we might want to start calling them by the generations. up to 72 - gen. 1, 73 to 87 - gen. 2, 88-98 - gen 3, 99-05 - gen 4.

Re: A dying breed?

My previous ride was a totally stock '93 standard cab with a V6 and manual tranmission. I really liked the truck and would have kept it except I wanted to be able to tow a travel trailer, so in Aug of '02 we got the currrent truck...Long live the truck!!! I really wanted a v8 anyway.

Re: A dying breed?

The 88-98's look more truck like than the NBS. The NBS sits lay too low compared to the other of the big three. I really hope the next gen silvys sit at a decent height so they dont look so whimpy when next to a super duty. Doubtful the 99-06 will turn to poop, they just wont be all cool new rave.

See, I disagree with that. I think the Ford and Dodge sit way too high for a half ton. I know Chevy is, but I wish they wouldn't follow suit with their truck. FYI, my '02 sits at exactly the same height as my dad's '81.
