Timing Problem?

Hi all,

I'm looking for some help with my 91 YJ. I recently rebuilt it and it was working great when I got it on the road. After about 5K on the reman engine it started coughing and sputtering a bit while driving and idling. I have repplace the fuel pump and filter and that didn't help. I replaced the wires on the distributor and that didn't help either. I'm thinking it may be a timing issue, but not sure. Any advice?
Thanks

well theres one of 2 things you could do ... if your a do-it-yourselfer... then i'd get ahold of a timing light and check it with that... if you'd rather someone do it for you then just have it checked at a local service place... but then again i dont see how it ran for about 5000 then all of a sudden decided to get out of time ...

As far as I know there is no adj in the timing for that year. The computer takes care of the advance and retard of timing. Sounds more like a clogged injector. Is there a check engine light?
