92 lesabre a/c not turning on. Defaults to ECONO

92 lesabre, swapped to r134a last year and noticed a slight leak from the low side schrader valve. The schrader cap held in the freon for awhile but then it cracked and the freon leaked out slowly. One day on the road home from work I hit the AUTO switch to get some a/c and it defaulted to ECONO. Thinking low pressure, I filled with a one pound can and it came back on and worked well for a week. Again the default to ECONO and no a/c. This time I evac'd and replaced the schrader valve core. The vac held at 28 to 30 for 30 minutes. I let the high side pull from the liquid and it only filled to .760lbs the compressor will still not turn on. I removed the relay and jumped the clutch to fill and it worked well. 2.20 lbs and replaced the oil. Still defaults to ECONO. Both pink and black wires on the relay are 12 volts. The green to the clutch works well obviously. I just have no signal from the light green with a black stripe wire coming out of the firewall. I looked under the dash and found a 10amp fuse for the a/c programer. The fuse is good. Maybe it is the programer. Which box is the programer and is ther a way to trouble shoot it. After I start the engine, the temp ## blinks for 30 seconds or so.
Any suggestions would be appriciated. Thank you.

I assume from what you said, that you have auto climate control. Follow the procedure below to check codes and write them down. After recording the codes, clear them and see if they come back while the AC is on. Also, check you’re high and low side pressure to see if they are within specifications.

Auto Climate Control Diagnostics

The diagnostic mode also contains a data list mode and an override mode.

Be careful not to select modes 01 or 02, as these are different modes, and may cause problems.

If the temperature display flashes for 2 minutes when the ignition is turned to RUN, a trouble code is set.

If you suspect you are in the wrong mode, press OFF repeatedly until you exit to normal mode.

1. Turn ignition to RUN. Press OFF and WARM (temperature up) buttons simultaneously.

2. Watch the segment test, then the trouble codes will be displayed.

3. Code Key:

00 - No codes

10 or 110 - Ambient Temp Sensor circuit open or shorted.

13 or 113 - In-Vehicle Temp Sensor circuit open or shorted.

15 or 115 - LH Solar Sensor circuit open or shorted.

35 or 135 - Data Line failure - HVAC Control Assembly

38 or 138 - Data Line failure - PCM

40 or 140 - Driver Air Mix Motor circuit open or shorted, or not calibrated

48 or 148 - Long Term Freon Loss

52 or 152 - Keep Alive Memory lost; sets with battery disconnected

66 or 166 - Low Freon

A number 1 prefix indicates a history trouble code

4. Press OFF twice once codes are displayed to end diagnostic mode, OR to to clear trouble codes, press FAN DOWN three times (make sure 03 is displayed).

Once 03 is displayed, press FAN UP to clear trouble codes. Then repeatedly press OFF to end diagnostic mode.

Thank you for the good info. I went out to work on it and plugged the neg. terminal back to the battery and when i start the engine the AUTO light turned on and I herd the a/c pump kick in as normal. Maybe the battery being off all night cleared the code for me? It is working well now. Thanks again for your time, I will keep that info for the future.
Being a yard mechanic can cost alot of money if I goof up but this time it worked out well.
Best regards
