cold air intake

yes or no question, can you install a cold air intake filter on a carburator car

Yes. Just buy a bonnet, some ABS pipe, a conical filter, some large hose clamps and a couple rubber boots. Just run pipe from the carb bonnet to the fender or wherever you decide you would like to have the filter.

yes but why don't you get a hood that lets the air hit the filter that is already on top of your block. ram air, ram jet, cowl etc.

Those hoods more or less allow for space and vent heat. They dont actually pull air in. Sure some air will hit the filter, but not enough to make a difference. Not for a $400 hood anyway.

so, its a good idea to get a cold air intake.? how much would it cost.?
which make would you recommend? k&n maybe?

A cold air intake will not make a noticeable difference. Also I doubt they make one for a 1973 mustang. However I could be wrong. If you are dead set on a CAI then make 1 yourself.
