Angry 2001 Aurora 3.5 OBD Reset

i have a 2001 Aurora which is logging a 410 code (secondary air). No one seems to have any idea what is causing this issue and the car runs fine. In Tennesse you cant pass emissions with this code set. I have had the code reset and am now trying to get the readiness monitors set. Does anyone know what the drive cycle is or how long this takes? Also any thoughts on the 410 code? Thanks

It is most likely the air pump. Check the 50amp maxi fuse under the hood , if it is blown you need a new pump.

both maxi fuses are OK - any other possible causes for the 410?

Could be one of the two vacuum diaphrams .
Small square boxes on bothe side of engine by firewall.

Still could be the pump do you hear it on start up? It is in the drivers side fenderwell .

I have that same stupid 410 code problem. It is my understanding that there is an air pump that pumps air into the exhaust system to add extra oxygen for the catalytic converter during the first few seconds after startup. I have heard that this really doesn't meaningfully reduce emissions but rather simply dilutes the pollutants with fresh air allowing the car to "pass inpsection" during those first few seconds after startup when the exhaust is at its most noxious. My light has come on periodically for two years now on my 01 3.5l and the car is running perfectly. I have no desire to spend money to fix such a stupid problem. I did purchase a $50 reset tool from harbor freight tools and plug that in on the fly whenever the light turns on and a minute later it is off again for a few weeks. Have the reset tool in the car and you can reset on your way to state inspection.
