Rear crossmember replacement. (95)

Got a big problem. The rear crossmember which houses the monoleaf spring is broken in several spots. Rust is the culperate, but now the car is undrivable. I think the spring can be salvaged, because just the very tip of one side has cracked. How big of a deal is this? (as in, "fun weekend home mechanic learning experiance", or, "god no, bring it to a real mechanic")

Anyone have to replace this rear crossmember before?
