BAH!@ Car still will not start

tonight after work i replaced the starter hoping that would cure what ails me. unfortunately that didnt work. where can i find this neutral safety switch to check it out? im assuming its mounted underneath the center console? also, what all is involved in replacing the ignition switch? any other idea's? the fuses in the engine compartment box are good (at least the large fuses that i checked). ted

What year and engine? What happened before you changed the starter?

98 gt, it would occassionally just not start. i waited at work one day for 5 minutes or so and then it started right up. thursday morning it just wouldnt start at all. the engine was replaced(93k to 55k) a few weeks ago and the starter looked kinda rough, so i figured it may not be a bad investment but it still aggrivating. i also changed the ckps, it doesnt stall going down the road anymore even though the trac light/ses lights still come on and off all the time. last night after replacing the starter it wouldnt turn over for a couple hours until i went back down to get something out of the car and figured id give it a try again. didnt take much to start it up. i guess im going to go check on this ignition switch deal, or at least figure out where to start and how to go about it.

Is your ABS light on too? Usually, the trac off light indicates a bad hub bearing. As far as your starting woes, it sounds like your having an intermittent ignition switch or security module problem. The ignition switch is in the column, and can be a bear to do for a novice.

the abs light hasnt come on lately that i remember. however, 10 minutes ago on my way back from radio shack the engine hic-up'd, for lack of better terms, twice and then died. i started it up in neutral and kept on driving down the road.
