Re: warning chime

When my wife drives my car, she has a habit of hitting the parking brake with her foot as she's getting in. This causes the Brake warning light to turn on and a constant dinging. Check that first.

From my 93 Factory Service Manual:

Warnings and Alarms: Chimes
Circuit Operation
The audio alarm system brings the driver's attention to one or more os several conditions: 1) lamps are on, ignition switchis set to Lock, Off or Accy, and driver's door is open; 2) ignition key is in ignition switch and is set to Lock, Off or Accy, and the driver's door is open; 3) Safety belt is unbuckled and ignition switch is in Run, Bulb Test or Start; 4) park brake has been left engaged and vehicle has traveled approximately 50 feet

Brake Warning System
Curcuit Operation
The Brake indicator receives battery voltage when the ignition switch is in Run, Bulb Test, or Start. Three switches are connected to the bulb so that when any one closes, the indicator lights. The ignition switch Bulb Test position does not have a detent, but the ignition switch should close to ground and light the Brake indicator before the Start position is reached.
The master cylinder brake fluid level switch closes to lightthe Brake indicator and briefly sounds a fast chime when there is low brake fluid in the hydraulic brake system. This could be caused by a leak in one of the brake lines. The switch opens by refilling the reservoir to it's normal level. Make sure the brake system has been repaired before refilling the master cylinder reservoir.
The park brake switch closes when the park brake has been applied, lighting the Brake indicator. If a vehicle has traveled approximately 50 feet with the park brake applied, the multi-function chime (MFC) module breifly sounds a fast chime. Releasing the park brake opens the switch and turns off the brake indicator and disables the chime.
......................

What does all this mean? The chime is caused by leaving the headlights on, key in the ignition, seatbelt unbuckled, parking brake applied or low brake fluid. Since your Brake indicator is on as well it can only be parking brake applied or low brake fluid. I'm not ruling out a bad switch or a faulty MFC module but you'll have to do some testing to pinpoint the exact problem.

I would be reluctant to just disconnect the MFC module. It's complaining about something so correct that problem

Re: warning chime

Hello. I had the EXACT same problem.
Check master cylinder. When fluid gets low there
is a sensor in the master cylinder that triggers the
annoying ding ding ding ding. Either you have a leaky master or there is a brake fluid leak some where causing low brake fluid warning chime.
