Hello everyone. I found out what is kicking my P0440 code and the fuel smell. I put on a new fuel pump, seems the pump is leaking around the o-ring. I filled up the gas tank and "splash" the gas came out the top of the tank around the pump. I have it apart again, any tips on getting that o-ring on, while compressing the pump and putting on the c-ring? I need 3-4 hands and that dang o-ring just seems like it doesn't fit. I have the o-ring around the pump or should I put it in the hole and then compress the pump to meet it?

Re: Fuel Pump HELP!!
Try putting a little petroleum jelly on the o-ring to hold it in place. It will not hurt anything and will help the ring seal properly by keeping it moist. I would put it on the tank side and press the pump down on the o-ring. My Haynes manual does not specify but it states that you may have to forcefully push the locking ring down if the o-ring is new to properly engage it.
