How to get ATC codes for 96 JGC Limited??
I have a 1996 Jepp Grand Cherokee Limited orvis editon. For the last year i have not been able to get air to change on the vent control. It just blows out the floor and out the vents under the front seats, no matter what setting i choose. Winter is coming and i need to be able to fix this. Just wondering if there is a way to get codes from the ATC system to try and narrow down the issue. I assume it has someting to do with vent doors in the dash or the linkage controling it. The heat and AC both work fine. I am also getting an odor from the vents when first turned on. Where is the drain valve for a/c located. I assume this is a mold issue in the vent system. Any info on where the vent doors are located would be helpful.... Thanks.

To get the codes from the ECU a code scanner will help.

codes
I have a 96 JGC limited with 175k miles on it. I got the codes from the climate control, but I am not sure what they mean. To get the codes from the check engine light turn your key off, on, off, on, off, on and the codes will show on your odometer - it's the coolest thing! I then went to a Chrysler site and found out that I have a bad MAP sensor. My code was 12, 14, 56 - 12 is the beginning and 56 is the end number.
I am still trying to figure out why I don't have heat. It's possible that the radiator is clogged... but it is only 2 years old. I have had some overheating problems, in the past. It has a new t-stat... winters coming and it gets damn cold here!! |

Re: How to get ATC codes for 96 JGC Limited??
I know that the off and on thing works only on dodge and Chrysler cars but i dont think that will work on the rest of the cars like Honda. I could be wrong though. Correct me if i am.

It does work on the jeep since that is how I got the codes. The other suggestion is on - acc - on - acc...
