lt1 swap question

the automatic tranny that came with the later lt1's is just a later version of a 700r4 right, the reason i ask is will i have to replace the crossmember with this newer tranny?????? i just want to make sure that before i start this swap that i have everyhing planed as good as i can so i dont run into a bunch of problems

why would you? its the same thing basically, if you already have an auto leave it there... the only reason you may have to swap it because of harness issues... but essentially its the same thing... and if you can i would leave the one you have in there, just cuz you would have to swap out the VSS so your speedo reads right...

you WILL need a new crossmember if you want a t56 like your sig says...

and count on problems you will have them... no matter what

Re: lt1 swap question

yeah i am still debating the whole auto/manual thing it would probably be better to just leave the auto, all i wanted to know was if they were the same because if so i would just leave mine in there. just wanted to know was if it would work, i am not much of a tranny expert

and about having problems i didnt mean to say that i wouldnt have any because you always do when swaping an engine, i just like to be really organized, i am not just someone that jumps right into something. when my brother would do an engine swap he would just through all the bolts in one buckets and just rip stuff off the engine. i go through with ziplock bags and make sure everything is labeld so i wont have so many problems later

yeah and the list in my sig is pretty much just a wish list but i have nothing but time this winter so....
