Human Chromosome 21 (Responsible for Down's syndrome) implanted into mouse!!

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20050923/ts_nm/chromosome_dc

Wicked cool stuff, IMO. Not only could it help scientists pinpoint exactly what goes awry with that particular chromosome (Down's sufferers have a third copy of it) but it could potentially lead them towards what happens to bring about early-onset Alzheimers, Leukemia, heart defects, and numerous other afflictions that are highly prevalent in Down's cases. I appreciate the people out there who establish watchdog groups as well (bottom of the article) but I don't see how this could really be potentially "frightening" to them, as it seems like a wonderful opportunity to me -- as well as for the 1 birth in every 800 that Down's occurs in.

Yeah, trisonomy 21... we just went over that in bio class a few weeks ago. I hope they find a way to prevent that stuff, Down's syndrome sucks. They'll eventually figure it out (after all, they'll be able to transplant an entire face soon, right? )

I just hope people won't be bothered by it "changing gods will" or somthing and demand it stopped.

medical tech just astounds me with what they can do.
