My 97 Z71 with 5.7 won't slow down when I let off the gas pedal. It almost acts like the cruise is still engaged. It eventually will slow down after an extended time. This has fotten progressively worse over the last few months. I tried a different IACV from a known good vehicle of a friend, but that made no difference. The throttle body has been thoroughly cleaned also. I have gotten to the point that I just put it in neutral sometimes. The idle speed drops down to normal when I do this.
My fuel mileage is taking a hit because of this. Any suggestions out there? |

Re: 97 Z71 won't slow down on decel
how long does it last? i think most newer models probably have some technology incorporated to not unlock the torque converter for about 10 seconds after you let off the pedal, so you dont really slow down, then suddenly you can feel the truck start slowing down. my dads 2001 silverado does that on the highway

This is something that is not normal. It just keeps on going, will eventually slow down after an extended time with my foot off the pedal.

Re: 97 Z71 won't slow down on decel
The TCC Solenoid may be sticking keeping the torque converter locked.

Did you ever find the problem? I have a 98 doing the same thing.
