Brake Job

How, many people do their own brake pad replacements for the 2000 max? I been doing the Downhills at my friends house really fast and it seems my pads are starting to go out (only 25,000 miles on my car too ) Wondering if I should just go to a shop or if i can do it myself, I have done other things but due to fear of screwing up i never touched my brake system. Whats a good place to go also, pricewise i mean? Midas? How much do good brakes cost? How long were they suppose to last?

Well. i know only one thing about the brakes to be carefull about. When my dad changed my brake pads, I asked him if I can change them next time on my own. He said that if I wanna change'em on my own I have to clean the surface of brake pads 1st so there would be no bumps on them. Its kinda easy to change them. Not sure where you can change'em, but you can always go to Nissan dealership, but they will rip you off with all ur cloth.

Changing brake pads is very easy just make sure the rotors are within specs and not warped, check w/ micrometer. then replace the pads making sure not to get anything (grease) on them or the rotors, and grease up the slides while you are in there. Even for a first-timer it shouldn't take more than a few hours. Just get a writeup or have a hanes/chilton manual handy in case you need help with it.
