Unhappy Schools.

Dunno about the placement of this, but anyway I'm gonna be attending Wyotech in about a week or so, and I've been having some serious doubts. I've heard great things about the school and it's programs but I not so sure I wanna go to a tech school anymore. I've always been heavily interested in psychology and have been looking into program's that are ofered by schools in NY. I'm not concerned about grades and whatnot because that is the past and all I have to look forward to is the future. Anybody know of any schools in the state of NY that offer a bachelors in psychology thay stand out among the rest of the general SUNY's? This is evtremely random, I'm just like mad fucked up right now so any help would be appriciated. Peace-

Re: Schools.

since i live in the UK i cant tell you anything about NY schools, but one bit of advice i will give you is this: dont follow the career path of what you thinkyou should do, follow the path to want to do. i want to do motorsport engineering, i know the pay isn't gonna be great in a low-level job when/ if i start working but i want to do motorsport engineering, my sister's studying forensic science, she knows that the max pay for a forensic scientist is less that that of a tube train driver, but its what she want to do.

the choice is yours, do what you want to. there's nothing you'll hate more that trying to drag yourself to work everyday if you're doin something you dont want to. so make the right decision, not the right decision. after all it's your life.

I'm a SUNY Buffalo Engineering grad (many years ago). Pyschology is a very common major. I can give some guidance at a high level. In general the best SUNY schools are the University Centers (Albany, Buffalo, Binghamton, Stony Brook). They also tend to be the most selective. For undergrad I wouldn't worry too much about which SUNY school to go to. See which ones offer Psychology (probably most). Pick a school/program that you think you will be competative in. Better to go to a school you feel you can compete and do well, those choose one that may be too much for you. You won't get good grades and you won't be happy. Don't do that.

Once you pick the school that has a program you want and you feel you can be successful in, work hard and do well. Doing well opens up lots of opportunites, both jobs and grad schools. It's fine not to know exactly what you want to do, but don't do something you know you won't enjoy. These aren't life and death decisions, don't treat them as such.

Pick a path, along the way there will be opportunities and experiences that you cannot imagine now. Make corrections as you go along. Best wishes to you.

Re: Schools.

I graduated from the University of Wyoming in Laramie, the home of Wyotech. I was certainly not impressed by the general student body. They were infamous around town for causing trouble and impregnating high school students. Dunno if any of their other campuses are that bad.

Re: Schools.

Yea i had to go to registration today in order to get my money back(how retarted is that) and I seriously am glad i'm not going there. The whole experiance gave me one of the most skeevy vibs i've had in a while(and i'm paying how much for this?!?) the whole thing just made me feel like i was getting used, all they talked about was money and how much I owe them(even when I had allready paid). The student body thing I can understand, a majority of these kids had looks on their faces like they were being sent to prision, and many were talking about how proud they were to have been kicked out/droped out of other schools. It must be nice to have that kind of money where you can just go to school then drop out, shit the total cost of my program at wyotech would have been close to 50K after tuition and rent and whatnot. And throughout this entire time I'm thinking am I'm spending this much money on what?? Honestly glad i'm not going there. Then on the fucking drive back to NY got a fucking ticket for doing 76 in a 45!!!! thought the limit was 65 apparently not. Insurance compnay is not gonna like that one. Peace-

Re: Schools.

You can pay the ticket with the money you will save not going to Wyotech.

Well the cop said i was doing 76 eventhough my cruise was on 74(but cruise is known to be off, and I was going down hill). Normally you wouldn't get pulled over for doing 74 in a 65 but whatever. At least I wasn't a PA resident then i would have gotten arrested. Peace-
