Axle bearings after only 21,000 miles?

I should not need these on a 04 after just 21k mies, should I? I have this thumping sound that I can actually feel that speeds up when the car speeds up. I am hoping it is a warped brake rotor. What would cause a rotor to warp? A sticking caliper perhaps?

HEAT! High speed braking or riding the brakes. Example: Senior citizens are hell on brakes!

ive never been in a car that shakes when accelerating because of a brake rotor, thats usually when braking.

Do you have a manual tranny? The bearing on the input shaft went bad in my tranny a couple weeks ago (5spd in truck). It thumped and knocked and could deffinatly feel it. Also of course it sped up with rpms. Just something to look into.

I got the axle bearing suggestion from an expert working from my description of the problem. I fear that is what the problem is. THis is a used car that was a rental. Some people abuse rentals so badly that I am thinking that it is the bearings or the axle is bent even though the car is only a 2004 with 21K miles.

You actually bought a rental car? Man, I have a feeling your going to be getting to know that car, inside and out! Seriously, I was doing some sweet FWD burnouts in a Dodge stratus in a parking lot, ofcourse the car was a rental

I did not know until I bought it. My first car was a rental - 89 Pontiac Grand Am - and it lasted for more than 100K miles. Some times a rental is in better shape than a private owner car because the rental companies maintain them better than the average person and absorb much more of the depreciation.

THanks - I had the dealership check the rotors and they replaced than and put on new pads but that has not solved the problem. It wont do it when the car is cold. It seems to start up after about 1o - 15 minutes of city driving. THis is why I thought it was the rotors.
Anything you get would be greatly appreciated.

Unhappy

Update: I went to Mt Tire to get an alignment and they tell me that that can not do it because the rear end is too far out. It was either hit or someone ran over something - highly likely since it was a rental. I am going back to the dealer. No cooling off period in my state, MD, so I am stuck wit the car. It seems to ride well and I didnt noticed any alignment problems. I guess I was screwed.

I just bought it a week ago. I cant afford to take that kind of loss. I couldnt get near what I paid. I am sure the dealer will try to make it right since I have only had it a few days.
