Hey I need help quick! Right now my '87 pickup is in my work parking lot stuck in 4wd. I shifted into it just see if it still worked with winter coming up I wanted time to work on it before too late. Now the thing won't shift out of 4wd. Any ideas appreciated. By the way, I would drive it out but the gears in the transfer case are binding and it won't drive until I get get it out of 4wd.

Re: Transfer Case Stuck In 4wd
You have a chicken and egg problem. The binding is what is probably keeping you from getting it out of 4WD. Dump some sand immediately in front of (and as underneath as possible) one of the wheels or two and make it move onto the sand. The wheel should spin and release the binding. You should then be able to get it into 2WD.

Re: Transfer Case Stuck In 4wd
Thank you, actually i started the engine and drove it about six feet to the back of a truck I was going to tow it with, and it popped right into 2wd. So yes, that's exactly the problem I had, Thanks for the advice.
