F@%$^#@ Speakers!!!!

Alright, this damn thing is making me crazy. My pass side front door speaker is making this high pitched whine and my pass side rear door speaker comes and goes like a fair weather friend. Is there some way to fix this. When everything decides to work the stereo sounds fine (which is not often) but most of the time, one or both of the above problems presents itself. How in the sam hell can I fix this!

Had the same problem on mine. The passenger speaker worked intermittantly. Pulled both the rears out and trashed um.

Went to www.crutchfield.com and purchased some replacements that fit right in.

Re: F@%$^#@ Speakers!!!!

Just understand that if you are running a factory deck, you won't get the same sound out of aftermarket speakers.

The ohm ratings are different.

Re: Re: F@%$^#@ Speakers!!!!

The aftermarket speakers will generally still sound better (factory speakers are absolutely nothing special whatsoever, even in what the factory considers "high-end" systems), but volume will not be exactly the same as with the factory speakers due to the differences in impedence. It is really best to go ahead and replace the factory deck along with the speakers.

The whine described in the original post is not likely to be a speaker problem as speakers cannot make noises on thier own - it is more likely a deck issue. The intermittent speaker problem, though, seems to be pretty common with the factory speakers in our Blazers (and alot of other GM vehicles as well). Replacement is the only fix for that.

actually, running aftermarket speakers with a lower ohm rating than the stock speakers will eventually blow your deck.
