Question Rapidfire vs. Platinum?

I had to make a decision between buying Rapid-fire or Platinum Spark Plugs (both from AC Delco) for my 96 Jimmy. I went ahead and bought the OEM part, the regular AC Delco Platinum, thinking I couldn't go wrong with that...but, does anyone know what the difference between these two spark plugs is???

I was told by the autopart guy that the rapid-fire were a "hot" spark plug. He couldn't explain it better, or I guess I didn't understand him. Can anyone?

Rapid fires are good for our trucks as oem replacements.... They allow a hotter spark as well (good if you run an MSD 6x or what have you...) Though I run platinums right now with no noticeable decrease in performance from my MSD.

What model number of platinums are you using in a 1995?

It doesn't list them as an option for that year? I might try them out.

Let me know.

Perfect, remember to use a gap of 0.060.

Re: Rapidfire vs. Platinum?

the part number for delco plats for 1995 is 41-803. I was told the 41-932's wouldnt work. Go figure.

Re: Rapidfire vs. Platinum?

I am going to do a tune up on my g/f 95 jimmy, and was looking around for cheap delco plat plugs. I tried all over and they all tell me the delco 41-803 plats are the ones I should get. 8 bux a plug. The retards at autozone even tried to sell me some autolite crap wires and shit, I was like, um, hell no, only ac delco for gm vehicles. But anyways, ok, I'll prove it to you I know what I'm talking about. go here http://www.acdelco.com/html/catalog/index.htm and enter 41-803

Re: Rapidfire vs. Platinum?

I also go to http://www.acdelco.com/html/catalog/index.htm, to check out the actual part numbers for my truck. By the way, I am currently using Taylor Spiro Pro Custom Spark Plug Wires. I've had them for over a year now, they're pretty good.

Re: Rapidfire vs. Platinum?

Oh...and I also went with the AC Delco Platinums. I figured I could'nt go wrong with OEM parts. The one I had before these were Bosch Platinums +2.

oh, I'm sorry, I guess I figured a 95 jimmy would be the same as a 95 blazer. There is a Jimmy in that list. Is your engine vin number a W? If so, I dont see why 41803 plats wouldnt work. I dont know what to tell you, but I am sorry.

I understand, but realistically, you don't want to take a change like that.

Use what is meant for your engine.
