Fuel Guage

I have a 2001 Chevy Venture and the fuel guage is all over the place. When I fill the tank its at full but after a few kilometers it can't make up its mind of being full or empty. Is this a common problem and can it be fixed by the dealer under some kind of warranty.

Re: Fuel Guage

Only if you are still covered under the existing warranty or an extended one. There is no recall or something like that. Fuel sending unit failures are unfortunately common in our vans. They tend to corrode in fuel with a high sulfer content. The only real lasting remedy is to replace the unit.

The only other thing that it could be is a poor connection/broken wire beween the sending unit and the computer.
