Re: How much horsepower

Probably wouldnt hurt if you put in some subframe connectors.

Re: How much horsepower

What are you doing to the 383? Are you going to rebuild the heads and make them performance? I think it would be a good idea to do so. Maybe some double springed valves with a nice 3/4 or 1/2 race cam. After that sit a 750 cfm double pumper on top and it would probably make somewhere around 500+ maybe. Leave some info and some pics man.

Re: How much horsepower

I think since you put a cam in it you should do a little head work. If you really want the great performance from the cam you have to have a better than stock valvetrain too. I pulled my 69 olds 350 apart which ran great with a 3/4 race cam and only double springed exhaust valves. I don't even know who built it but it ran great.

Ya... wish i would of talked to u a few months ago... i was told that i would get around 500 horsepower... I believe the cam is a 1/2 inch.. I know it is a 1/2 lift.. Eldbrock heads 2.02/1.60 with duel springs... I haven't bought a new carb yet... I got 1-5/8 headers from summit.. Iam going to have a new exhaust installed next summer with so flower master mufflers with the "h" pipe... If you're going to get 600 horsepower out of a 383, i would love to know what you're bolting on it... As far as the frames goes that's what everyone has told me.. Frame connectors and a 9 ford rear end... Does anyone know anything about a 9 ford rear end... Iam not a ford guy.. What cars did these rear ends come on, and are that bullet proof... And what gear ratio does everyone run in it... And last but not least, do u know how much torque that 383 will put out...

i run a ford 9 in my nova. I got mine from currie custom fit ready to bolt in, jegs has them. For the street i run 3.25s when i race i swap out the third member and run 4.56 with a spool. Dont worry about the housing holding up to the power it is the third member and how well that is built. Mine for the street is cheap but my racing one is strange built. Also if you chop one to fit i wouldnt go under 31 spline axles. The kit from currie comes with 31 spline axles. I have a buddy with 35 spline they are awsome.
