My escort will go nice and strait then turn, it is easy to turn it back strait again. It may not do this for a time but then it will do it again.

When ever trying to diag. a steering problem you must first look at the tires. Do you have good tires? Are they the correct size? Are they the same tire? Are the tire pressures inflated properly? Escorts should be at 32 psi.
If thats ok. then get a four wheel alignment performed. That will tell you if you have any bent or wore out steering componets.
At the same time get a four wheel balance performed, that will tell you you if you have a bent rim or an unstable wheel.
