Most folks on this site...

Most of the folks on this site seem to ride most anything other then a Harley. Why is that? Just ain't many Harley riders around?

Re: Most folks on this site...

this site seems to be more geared for the motorcycle guys that like to go to the track and take the twisties at a more that leisurely pace....harley riders are more of a take the scenic route and ride for the open road feeling, not for the speed....

speaking of speed, when you have more than one harley rider... it gets really annoying if they choose to ride at the exact or well below the speed limit. even cars start passing them. worse if there are a curves involved, they'll go slower than a semi.

good point. but not harley riders are "burly" or hell's angels. there are some guys who ride for the "coolness" factor or they're just retired and waiting on the pension.

I am over fifty and know how to use the computer. I also have rode must brands of bikes out there, dirt and street. I presently own a CB750C Honda and a Softail Harley. I enjoy them both. I use the Harley for trips and the Honda around town. I am looking to buy a new Ultra Classic soon I just don't like the price.

You forgot the part about how they ride in a line like they're in a parade about 30 deep wheel to wheel the whole way. Then the part about how they ignore the fact that they're holding up traffic (God forbid anyone show common courtesy), then how pissed off they get when you finally pass them 5 at a time going into the next corner.

But in fairness, some of them are great guys that realize they don't own the road, and are more than willing to be passed for the sake of everyones enjoyment. It just seems those types are becoming a dying breed.

The worst of all has to be the sportbike squid that will do anything to avoid being passed so as not to have his enormous ego bruised, riding as wreckless as necessary to stay ahead, regardless of the fact that he's holding up a rider that can ride twice his pace in a safe manner.

Theres good and bad in both worlds!

you won't find them in the scenic route or improving their cornering ability, but rather pulling 100+ mph wheelie on the freeway.

i personally wouldn't consider a person pulling 100+ mph wheelie a squid. but... if a squid can do that, they are either very brave or vey stupid.

so what you consider squid? some pulling 40 mph wheelie on an empty parking lot, away from other motorists? squidly act is not about the sort of stunts they do but the environment and condition they choose to do and reckless behavior they present. definition of squids is easy... lacking common sense. even if Rossi is pulling 150 mph wheelie on American interstates... it'll be a great spectacle, but that'd be very squidly of him.

Definition: Have you seen a motorcycle rider who does not wear protective clothing, darts into and out of traffic at high speed, seems to need some motorcycle training and, in general, acts like he/she doesn't know what they're doing? You've seen a Squid.
No one is quite sure where this term came from. It is a naval term for a young sailor. It may be an acronym. Some examples are "SQUirrely kID," "Stupid, QUick, and Inevitably Dead," or "Super QUick, Inadequately Dressed."

i got this definiition from the web, and if a person did a 100 mph wheelie, they have probably done this many times. in general, what im trying to say is that most squids wouldn't even attempt a stunt so dangerous.
