Does anyone have a cowl hood? Quik Question

I am soon to be getting a 4" cowl hood from hawks 3rd gen for my 92 RS, i am just concerned though, i have been trying to picture about just how high off the hood 4" really would be. I am worried that the actual part that sticks up 4 inches is going to be pretty damn high and get in the way of seeing wile driveing. It isnt a car for just show or something like that, it will be used in every day driveing, and im thinking this isnt really going to be good for that...
is the 4" hood really only suited for show and raceing, or can it be used with everyday driveing with no problems or anything?
I have never had a cowl hood myself in the past, but i have seen them in person, just 2" ones though, i went out with a tape measure to 4" where it would be.. and it looks pretty damn big....

Re: Does anyone have a cowl hood? Quik Question

Ok, well do you have any pictures of it on the car, or know where i can see some pictures of a 4" and a 2" on camaros? All i can find are pictures of the hoods, but never on the car itself, all i can do is picture what it will look like, witch is hard...

4" is big, Its gonna look like a dragster. Personally i wouldn't go above 3" and thats still kinda high. My friend has a 2" on his 1500 and it looks good.

KPot2004, is that the 2" you were talking about in that picture? That looks like what im looking for... do you haev any pictures outside of the car?
Also where did you get that hood at, or did it come with that grill for the vent or did you have to buy that seperatly? I think the hood from hawks is just bare minimum...

Re: Does anyone have a cowl hood? Quik Question

Kpot2004,
I found this on summit, im guessing this is the hood in the picture? Sorry i cant link it to you for some reason, just keeps comming up summit.com without the product but heres the description:

These Goodmark steel cowl induction hoods add style and performance to your ride. By increasing airflow and decreasing air temperatures, you can see instant power gains. They feature a 2 in. rise cowl scoop, fully detailed inner frames, and a welded-in screen in the scoop opening. All factory latch and hinge hardware works with these hoods, for a true bolt-on design.

Is that the hood you have? The one in the picture you posted looks like about the size im lookign for... Guessing its a 2"

Its steel though, $450 is a bit much for a steel hood... but if it comes with that screen welded in and all the other stuff it says, mabey thats why its so pricey?

Re: Does anyone have a cowl hood? Quik Question

yes mine is a goodmark 2", and no i didnt pay 450, i actually bought mine of ebay for about 250-80 cant really remember, came exactly like you see in the pic screen welded in and all, actually came with all the factory mounting stuff to like the place for the spring and the holes for that one metal latch piece, great hood in my opinion, made the rest of the car look more like crap though
