Re: D15 Bottom D16 Head
What year, which D15/D16? For example, the D16a1, D16A6, and D16Y8 motors all have different heads.
The only other head that will fit on the 84-87 D15A3/EW motor is a DOHC D16A1 head which is called a Hydra swap. You will however have to construct your own bracket for the timing belt tensioner pulley. This swap is for people who are up to a challenge and don't want to bother swapping the whole D16A1 motor. NO OTHER D-SERIES HEAD WILL FIT ON THE 84-87 D15/EW MOTOR! |

Re: D15 Bottom D16 Head
Where does it say D15A1? The '87 SI came with a D15A3. Either way, except for the 1300cc, the stock engine blocks for any 84-87 Civic/CRX are all the same. The EWx designation was changed to D15xx in '87, the Honda D-series motor changed completely in '88, and Acura changed from D-series to B-series in '90.
Basically what this means is that if you've got the stock SI motor in your car, no '88+ Honda D-series head will fit on your motor. |
