EBC Brake Problems
I have been researching my brake woes and made some discoveries. One thing is Powerstop is now saying don't use kevlar or ceramic pads on their rotors. I found that out the hard way.
2nd item: EBC came clean and said they had a problem with Civics. The pre-V4 green pads were nasty to rotors AND their rotors weren't up to the task. Apparently the pissy little brakes on our cars can't dissipate all that heat real well. They say all has been fixed with new alloys for their rotors and the V4 compound. I have been in contect with them and they suggest contacting them if you've had problems. Andy Freeman is the dude and his e-mail is: [email protected] Habib, send me you re-mail address. I want to send you some stuff. [email protected] |

Nice to see ya back darolh
![]() Yea figures they tell me this after my previous EBC's went a who wopping 6 months before I had to get rid of them, and those were V4's btw. Maybe someday I might go back, but right now my current combo of axxis pads and bremo OEM rotors is doin just dandy. Thats really good info you found out though i'll pass that along thanks! My old DX (aka my friends ITC race car) still runs on greens i think and it does eat them fast but does good on rotors and such which is weird. As for the powerstop rotors I'm still a little leary of them but if its cooling problems our brakes have now they seem a little more tempting to me. My e-mail is the same as my SN, [email protected] (don't forget the _ alot of people do)

When you guys say " OEM brembos " what exactly do you mean? I hope you don't mean that you are buying them from Honda.

No, bremo makes just the stock rotor for civics, hence the name "bremo OEM rotor" they are cheap and damn effective. Some say they are better than most any OEM rotor you can buy for the civic. But I dunno what makes them that much different maybe darohl knows.

yea for street use your midas pads should be just fine with your slotted and drilled rotors. Down the road if you want to get a more agressive pad just remember what Darohl said above...

One should put new pads on with new rotors. Having said that I have sanded the pads down in the past when installing the old ones with new rotors.
If I remember correctly, Powerstop wsays to use Axxis Metalmasters with their discs. Don't take my word however, double check. Powerstop offers no warrantee on their product and makes it plain in the enclosed paperwork. |

I got the new pads/discs from EBC. I put them on last Monday (I'm getting fast...took less than an hour to swap out). I'll let y'all know how it works out.

Glad I read this as I've found that the Bendix I put on are killing my rotors on the SiR and I was about to go to EBC greens.
I think I'll get the DBA slotted disks I was looking at and then drop on the EBC greens... weird that the SiR Rotors are huge but still can't handle heat too well (admittedly they are 12 years old )

Make sure you get the updated V4 compound if you go with EBC. They do guarantee their product if used as directed so I'd be inclined to use their disks id you go with EBC pads.

EBC and Poweslot
I have a integra, on which I intalled powerslot rotors, and ebc greenstuff pads. They haven't lasted very long about 6 months. So far I've been told Hawk HPS pads with dba rotors, which isn't exactly cheep, but I'm hoping to get much better wear out of them. I wasn't impressed when I talked to Powerslot, about their rotors...I wouldn't recommend them to anyone because they won't stand behind their product. I haven't talked to EBC yet. I like how they stop, but it'll get expensive really fast if I have to keep messing with my brakes. If anybody knows of a better combination of brakes, please let us all know.

Re: EBC Brake Problems
I had some EBC green stuff pads before - warped my stock rotors and tenzo slotted and drilled rotors in less than a month. They're way to hard imo. I'll never buy them again.

Re: EBC Brake Problems
ive got EBC greens on my VT civic and they suck, under light braking they shake like the rotors are warped, but they arent. im going to be swapping them out for mintex i think , i hear good things about them, if not then just stock rover ones will do
