G-80 code = Limited slip ?? Tire

size question.

The tires that came on this 95.5 are strictly highway, squirly minivan type tires .

I want to put on an all terrain set, but can I slightly change the size, ie. OEM is 245/70 16, can I install say, 265/70's without messing up the gearing or the point in the limited slip & 4x4?

I LOVE this truck - lucked out actually, cause I didn't even think to look for things like limited slip , or OBD I - I was too concerned with thoroughly scrutinizing the 4x4 system, the engine and tranny.

G80 code indicates factory LS rear. You can go as tall and wide as you want with tires, as long as they are all the same size & dont rub, hit, etc. Same size all the way around is key, for both the 4x4 and LS rear. Does the pre 1998's have 16" wheels? I thought they were 15's. 245/70-16's is what I have (stock still) on my 2002.
G/luck

Re: G-80 code = Limited slip ?? Tire

Both my 95.5 & 97 came with 16" wheels as OEM.

The 97 came with 16x6" steel wheels & P225/75 16's. The 95.5 came with 16x7.5 alloy wheels & P245/70 16's.

A lot of the 96 & 97 Rodeo's came with 16's as OEM - though the owners manual lists the "S" model as having came with 15x6 wheels.

Cool - thanks for the info!

I have 265/70-16s on my Rodeo and they fit fine. The speedo correction is only about 3% so it isn't even worth worrying about.

Do you have the limited slip?

And have you felt any loss in power/torque with the LS or 4x4?

I have had the 265/75's on my 4x2, and it robbed a bit of power. But, I'm more worried about robbing it of correct gearing in which the 4x4 won't be as capable.

Have you noticed any ill effects in 4wd?

Yup, mine has the LSD and it doesn't affect it at all.

Remember. you're only talking about going from a 245/70/16 (29.5") to a 265/70 (~30.5"). It's not like you're throwing 33's on your truck. I doubt that you'll even notice a difference.
