I am sanding my TA. The paint is around 5 years old and is in fairly gd shape. No clear on it and thats what is getting me confused a bit. I have done it before on clear coat. I got the fenders really nice (2000 grit and it looks like glass with 0 orange crap.. But the hood has lots bird crap and overspray, so I sanded the thing with 1000 then 1500 and still i can see some sort of scratch after I used rubbing compound (not swirls). That fact made me resand it again with 2000 ( I noticed that my block left some scratches on there even thoug its nice and soft) and thats when I resorted to wet sanding it with my hand (2000 Is it OK to do this?).I ll buff it tomorrow and see what happens.

What kind of products would you recomend for buffing? (rubbing. polishining comp., are they all the same?)

And what kind of quality stuff that really works to use to make it really shine and bring out the color . Hand glaze or wax? Its really nice now, but I want more.

Is there anything I am doing wrong?

Any tips and secrets that I should learn about?

Race Glaze.

I haven't seen it at any autoparts store's, but I have seen it at paint supply shops, best stuff out there.

If you are seeing scratches after wet sanding twice and buffing , then i would say that whoever painted the car didn't know wtf they were doing to begin with and used too coarse of sand paper during the final block sanding before the color coats were put down and that is not going to sand or buff out without taking it down to the primer and doing it right.
I see it all the time.

No the paint is fine (pretty thick coat and with low orange bumbs on it). Its the thigs that I am doing. The stupid rubbing compound shit is not able to remove the scratches from 1500 grit sand paper. I got this fixed with sanding it with 1500 then 2000. Its fine now and very nice, but waht to use afer polishing compound? I mean the kind of products that are aplied by hand.

Ouch! hand rubbing
I use 3M Super Duty Rubbing Compound and it will remove the sand paper scratches just fine. It is a high cut compound , but i machine rub with an air buffer.
I have used it on small areas by hand with fair outcome , but machine rubbing is still going to give the best results.

i have buffer, but i sand with 2000 grit witout a sanding block. iam wondering if thats OK and looks like results are way better when i finish sanding with my hand
