E.T. question about DSMs.
Im looking for a car that I can upgrade slowly and keeping things on a budget. For this reason, I was looking at something like a gs-t. Turbos are expensive, and if it came with one stock, then it would be cheaper then anything else. Im wondering what a gs-t with say, CAI, air filter, headers, and exhaust system(full) would run? I just want it to keep up with other slightly modded cars. And if I moved up to a bigger turbo, would it be a drop in or would I need to buy new equipment/hardware then stock? Thanks, and if I need to clarify anything, ask and Ill respond or edit.

Re: E.T. question about DSMs.
No headers on a gst, but with intake, downpipe, and exhaust, you should be in the mid/low 14's...... low 14's high 13's in a gsx.....bench racing sucks.

Also, for our cars (gst/x), there is no cold air intake. But, I have seen people fabricate some aluminum pipes so that it puts the air filter near the bottom of the front bumper.

Re: E.T. question about DSMs.
It is bench racing, but at this point there is so much data it's easier to estimate what these cars will run. You didn't mention if you want a 1g or a 2g. The 1g is most likely your target since you mentioned a budget. and they are eaier and cheaper to make fast. With an intake and exhaust expect low 14s from AWD. With a little more boost, 13s. With fuel control/fuel pump and race gas, 12s. I have seen many times poeple with 1Gs just do intake/exhaust/pump/AFC/MBC run 12s. You need to have some idea what you are doing and some balls, but its not hard to do. But back on topic, expect low 14s on basic mods for AWD, and add a good half second for FWD to any estimates, more as it gets more modded. Just search around and check out poeples mod lists and times. Not always easy to find, but sometimes its in poeple's sigs.
