check engine light

Hello I have a 99 passat V6 GLX. The check engine light came after two weeks of owning it. We stopped buy our local Autozone and the OBDII came up with a p1127 "exhaust not warm" and a p1129 "downstream heated 02 sensors swapped. could you tell me what this means or what parts need to be replaced?

actually thats codes for bank one and bank 2 mixture too rich. I would reccomend a good injector cleaner and full tank of premium gas.

so what may have caused the problem was putting 87 octane with
octane booster? from now on i will put 91 in will the ligth ever go out? or does it have to be reset by somebody?

It needs to be reset with a scanner. My bet is you have a bad Mass Air flow sensor, it can be a little hard to diagnose. Something is making the car run too rich, how's the air filter?

There is a recall for your model car (passat v6) for catalytic converters. When doing the update to the ecm the code is erased. Call and see if the recall pertains to your car.

called vw dealer they said no on the recall just changed the air filter and spark plugs

after running a tank of 91 octane with injector cleaner light is out thanks for the advice

did you do anything to o2 sensors ? replaced or removed and put back in ?

no changed the spark plugs, air filter the light was already on when we did that and put the 91 octane in with the injector cleaner that was it. touched nothing else

On the same topic (engine light):
I bought a v6 2003 with 48000 miles on it, great car.
The engine light came up 2 days after receiving it and driving it around in California. I thought maybe different altitude, or different gas (previous owner might have used 87, and I only use 91).

I OBDII'ed it, and "P0441 Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect Purge Flow" came up.
I first thought it was the gas cap not closed properly (or one of the other reason mentionned above).
Anyways, I close the gas cap (click click), and reset the light. everything is fine.

One tank later, engine light is back on, and same error code.
Since it doesn't seem to be a big mechanical problem (emission issue 'only'), I decide to "click click" my gas cap again and keep driving (the car runs fine).

now, another gas tank later, for the second time, engine light came back on today.

Any idea what could cause P0441?

2000 Passat 1.8 T. I have this check engine light/Emmissions workshop. I need to get the error code off the computer, but I also seem to have a problem with Vapor Lock. or at least i think thats it. its not hot out, its kinda cool actually. but I keep having trouble getting my car to start after its been driven recently, and the engine is hot. Cold starts are fine. I was told this was vapor lock. any corrilation with the check engine light? also, any ideas on stopping the vapor lock issue? i was gonna try and sheild the fuel line, see if that helps. I just found out today this check engine/emmissions workshop, is a common issue with these damn cars. so, ill try anf get the error code. thanks to anyone who can help me out.

Im gonna try a fuel injector cleaner too, i havent done that in a while.

very common faiulure of the evap valve on top of the air box. It stops holding vacuum and sets the light for incorrect flow.

I just got the check engine light. It was a P0441 error code. It turned out to be the evaporator valve that wasn't quite closing all the way, therefore sucking vapor out of the gas tank. Not a big deal, but didn't know that. $350 bucks later my mechanic replaced the valve and the damn light is off.

I have the same issue?The check engine light is on my 2002 passat wagon 1.8 turbo!I have checked all of the lines for a vaccuum leak.Cleaned the throttle body from any junk and then followed the hose down to the maf and it seems that there was some blowby(oil)down there so I cleaned that too and then unplugged battery for ten minutes.I hope this cures it?I will be able to see right away if the check engine light comes back on because I drive 230 miles a day!And I have replaced the plugs too!Any other ideas??
