Re: upgrade taillights

I know there is a lot of guys out there that prefer the new style lights but, I prefer the Orange in my tailights and I think if I was gonna spend that kinda money on tailights I might even consider some Fancy Aftermarket ones that don't look too gawdy...

Just my worth...

Here is a pic of my tail light:

You can get them for around $120 shipped. I would think that you should be able to pick up factory tail lights from a junkyard for less, but people seem to be buying them up.......

Here is a link for an auction for some tail lights like mine on eBay.

enjoy.

Kenwood guy,
No offense or anything, but IMHO, the first rule of car modification should be "Go before show" In other words, you might look at improving performance/MPG before dressing it up. Always be able to back up your appearance

Re: upgrade taillights

They kinda work for me.

Thought I'm a bit more partial to the chrome effect and by the way, these have been on the truck now for three years and are still loking good!!!

But thats exactly your opinion. A lot of people (me included) don't give a shit about how fast their ride is and just want to dress it up so to say. It also depends on which scene you're into. In the sport truck scene a drop and then wheels are the very first things done. I had wheels and a drop long before I even bought a muffler. Personally when I was younger I liked aftermarket tails, now I hate em. But again thats just my opinion. I like the new tails and if that's what you want get em and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

120 seems a bit much for them. but what do i know. Have you tried your local junk yard, they may end up being way cheaper that way

Everyone's different. Some guys would rather have a fast ride b4 show or vice versa. All I know is that when someone comes up to me tryin to show off, it's nice having enough hp at my wheels to know I can make him look real stupid, real fast

As for the 03 taillights...keep an eye out on ebay. You can get em alot cheaper that $130-140. I almost bought a set off ebay for $75, but I got outbid at the end by 15 cents

Re: upgrade taillights

i like go before show.....with cars.....trucks IMHO dont need too much more go than what it came with... i had a 1993 acura vigor with 350 hp at the front wheels .....FAST AS SHIT.....the only show i had on it was an exhaust tip on my straight pipe and cleared taillights.....that was fun to fuck with people in...

my truck has no go...but ive put alot into show....whether it looks like it or not...

I went about it well thought and planned out. Did my homework on the 2 engines, and gave myself plenty of time to do it (a whole month) The end was result was well worth it.

There is no comparison between the two engines. Although I am running the smaller V8 in the 4.8, I've blown away 5.3's and a couple 6.0s
Even a 454, but we were just goofin around. Now if you asked me if I'd do it again, I'd probably say no way, considering it took me almost a whole fricken year to get it to pass smog in CA.

Re: upgrade taillights

The first pair of tails I bought are the ones Rolling bones has, and now their sitting in my garage. I dident like the chrome and found the smoke finish matches my truck rather well. But im now thinking about upgrading again to the '03's. But im too poor to buy anything anymore. Damn woman.
