i read earlier about you guys were arguing which spark plugs not to use in the sr20. it just so happens that i need to change them and i dont remember which ones you guys had said not to use. also i had to jump my car about a week ago and ever since then my car acts wierd when i use the throttle. is it my CPU reseting or what can it be?

Re: it feels kinda sluggish

You probably didn't jump it right and blew a fuse or something. And don't use Bosch plugs

Re: it feels kinda sluggish

yeah bosch plugs suck I would go with NGK they are the best. As far as your car you may want to try cleaning the throttle body and the AICV I had that same problem and that fixed it. Or maybe your timing is messed up it could be a few things

Re: it feels kinda sluggish

i put in some new gas the other day, it helped a lot, but its still not running how it was before. spark plugs are on the way this weekend since i have the time, im also changing the oil and filters. i still have the air box in my car, is there a way to open it up and just route the air directly or do i actually have to buy a CAI o Short Ram Intake?

lol u funny nismo.....but I heard that NGK you have to replace more often than others. How do i clean out the throttle body?just grab from cleaner from like auto zone, clean the engine bay and it as well?

Re: it feels kinda sluggish

ngk last as long as any others.
copper plugs need replacing more often, but IMHO work better than platinum or iridium, and id gladly pay 1.99/each and replace them every year or so.(the tip is much bigger, resisting being fouled up as quickly in case of an engine not running perfectly, and copper is a better conductor than platinum or iridium). NGK platinum can go for 60k or more(or less, depending on driver) but 5.99/each is steep. iridium is just too much, and if you let the plugs sit in your block for much longer than 75k, you might find yourself rethreading your cylinder head...)

Re: it feels kinda sluggish

oh and you can unbolt your airbox, duct tape your stock panel filter to the top of the box and flip it over...ghetto style!

and to clean your tb, go to the dealer and buy a TB gasket(like 1.50 or somthing) and unbolt the tb, buy some TB cleaner(dont use anything else, as it may damage your TPS.). clean it out and slap it back on

you may consider changing the fuel filter, plug wires, and cap&rotor. check all your vacuum hoses for breaks or leaks(the small hoses).

hopefully you didnt damage a sensor or something with the jump...

Re: it feels kinda sluggish

holy shit...ill go with the copper, $2 a plug every year is a bet(bout 10 bucks). im only planning on keepin the car till spring so i can sell and get a manual. what u mean by cap and rotor? r u talkin bout the distributor?

i dont think i did anything wrong with the jump, i put the ground on the body of the car, connected both grounds first, then put the red one their batt first, then mines. i had the car all the way off, key out and everything. i dont think i messed up a sensor.

Re: it feels kinda sluggish

supposed to connect power first, ground is "first off last on"

but its still doubtful that it messed anything up.

yeah cap+rotor = distributor cap + distributor rotor

Re: it feels kinda sluggish

well, its almost back to how it was....i changed the oil, oil filter, spark plugs, and cleaned out the tb. i think it may be a fuel filter o somethin. i looked in my manual for the car and it said dont change the 'platinum NGK' spark plugs till 106k. i just broke 100k so i dont think it'll matter.

is there a way for me to reset the computer so the check engine light shuts off from a reminder of 100k? what do the dealers do to the car @ 100k an ways. im pretty sure i could check it myself...

o and that ghetto style intake im not going to bother lol. i thought of it, but i guess not. i was thinking of actually opening it up and taking out the restriction/plastic walls in there to help.
