Tape Stuck in tape player

While on a road trip we put in one of those adapters that can plug in to a headphone jack and the tape player. We were watching a movie on a laptop (a built in dvd player would be better and safer I know) and the laptop slide and the tape got yanked but did not come out. After trying to get the tape out using a mixture of hitting the eject butten 30 times and one or two attempts with a butter knife... don't ask, we gave up. I quess I will have to go the ford dealership but will it cost anything? We dont use the tape player at all (who does these days?) but you never know. Any Ideas?
