SSEi, Evo vs some cars..

Ok, have had some good races lately. The other night was crazy with all the cars/trucks out, so i'll get to it, first with my Bonneville SSEi with me driving. It had a VS Cam, Intense PCM, Shift kit, 3.4" pulley, CAI, and 3" magnaflow exhaust.

About a week ago I just filled up at the gas station and am pulling out when I see a clean looking black '02 Mustang GT coming up. I'm feeling good about my car even though it's 90+ degrees out, so I pull out quick to get near it. Sure enough it has temp tags and there is a younger kid driving it, and I can definatly smell his exhaust and hear it. So I just kinda go by him at about 55 in a 45, then slow down to get next to him. Sure enough I hear him load up that V8 and not let me get away with that, but I was ready and already downshifted into 2nd (auto) and try my best not to let him get away with that. I stay pretty even when he barely creeps by me, shutting it down with his rear bumper at my front bumper. Now he must have been thinking "WTF" at that point because his obviously modded GT could barely walk a 4 door grandma car, because we pulled up next to each other at a light and he is revving it the entire time. Light turns green and he guns it, smoking the tires like crazy, I too get into it a little to much and do the same thing beside him. Finally both our cars grip and we take off. The results are same as the first time, with him at my front bumper at about 75 before we shut it down. I didn't get back next to him because my turn was next, but I was curious as to what he did to his, sounded like intake/headers/exhaust at least, and when he got off of it there was some rich smoke coming out of his exhaust, but I don't know much about mustangs.

2nd race is me and one of my best friends and his stock white SRT-4. We've raced before with him coming out on top, but this night was cooler, and i've done some weight reduction since then, so I was curious how it would be now. We are both cruising along next to each other at about 40, when I keep revving at him to get him going and just being a nuisance. He finally starts to honk and I immediatly line up next to him. On 3 we both gun it and hes in 2nd and starts pulling (2nd in SRT-4s is a really good gear). He pulls about a car and a half on me when he has to shift again at about 75, here is where my really long gearing helps, because as he is shifting im still going, and stop his advance. It stayed that way up till about 90, when he shut it down. Afterwards he was mad because he used to beat me by 2 car lenghts and wanted to know why he was slow that night. I told him, A) I didn't have a full tank of gas this time, and B) I took out my spare, jack, and repair kit. Which in my car actually weighs a good deal.

Final run with my car before we get into the juicy stuff with my friend's Evo. SSEi vs b18 91 civic (not hatch) and a newer Lexus GS 300. I was following my friend to watch him race his evo vs a white turbo civic while these cars were getting on the freeway as well. I wanted to see what was up with the civic so I do a quick rev next to him to see if he wanted to go, and grabbed his attention. I guess the two of us getting ready got the attention of the GS300 as well, so the GS pulls up in the right lane next to the civic. We were going about 65, me in the left lane, the b18 civic in the middle, and the GS300 in the right lane. The civic and lexus gun it, I immediatly follow suit and am getting inched by the civic. I shift into third at about 95 and the civic stops pulling, and I'm still slowly pulling on the lexus. We get up to 120 and i'm starting to pull a little when we shut down. Final result, Civic has me by about 2 cars, and I have the lexus by a car and a half. Not sure what was done with the Lexus.

Ok, now the fast stuff . Me riding shotgun in my friend's '03 yellow Evo. His Evo has intake, turboback exhaust, PCM, Cams, ported intake/exhaust, racing clutch, electronic boost controller, pretty much everything but a new turbo (which is his next mod). When he had it dyno tuned he put down 341 on a mustang dyno. That was back when he had a UTEC instead of the flashed PCM though. Anyways needless to say this thing is fast. OK, on with the races.

First race is against a white Chevy Cavalier. This guy has about 4 other people in his car and is messing with us down the express way. My friend gets on it once to put him in his place, but he comes back up and gives up a thumbs up. Guess he just wanted to see us get on it. We pull up to a stop light and they are all looking over at us. My friend decides to give them a good show and goes "i'm gonna launch on them, see any cops?" Now, my friend hardly ever launches his car, he treats it pretty well. I've only been in it one other time when he kinda launched it at 4k rpm. So I start looking around and am looking to the rear when the light turns green. I've never been from a stop to a go that quickly before in my life. I literally hurt my neck because I wasn't ready for it and wasn't expecting it. My friend did a perfect 5.5k RPM launch, and just took off. We never saw that cavalier again.

Siderail real quick. I've never been in a car that has so many people revving at him. We went to get some gas and had a Air Force Van rev at us at stop, a Fedex Truck rev at us, and a guy in a Harley with his girlfriend on back. Must be the bright yellow car with the huge carbon fiber wing. Anyways back to my stories.

Some real races here now. We are driving on the express way again when I notice a black truck up to our right. I look and see it has a small wing over it's tailgate. "Hmm" I think to myself. As there is a black unbadged ram that has the SRT10 wing on it like that. We get closer and I notice it has 20s. Another light pops in my head, and I notice the hood and hoodscoop. Again, I've seen all this before on a regular ram. But finally we get close enough (it's night time) to read the badges. Sure enough, it's an SRT10. I tell my friend who also has seen the black fake SRT10 running around, and he doesn't believe me that this one is. We pull up next to it and my friend is going to give them what for regardless. The truck gets on it but my friend is ready and we take off, although not as much as we thought we would. He immediatly looks at me and through the sound of that v10 and how he kept up with us, looks at me and goes "Ok, that was an SRT10 your were right". We only put about 1 car on it from a 35 roll to 70, although we were starting to pull hard. Nice truck though.

Next up is a red SRT4 that does a ricer fly by. The SRT4 was behind us about 4 cars when it gets on it and flys by us. My friend gets on it as it is passing to catch up, but the SRT4 is still pulling with the jump that they got. The neon definatly wasn't stock, and they had 2 passengers in with him. The person in the back seat sticks out their hand and starts waving at us, like they won something or whatever. This pisses off my friend and at the stoplight we were next to them (cars in front of us though, unfortunatly) and says "What's with that gay ricer shit? Lets go from a honk and see who really is faster". The driver looks over and nods. So we get on the freeway that is up ahead, and the SRT4 is behind us. We are going about 60 when the lanes clear up and the neon pulls to the center lane (we are in the right) and guns it. My friend was more prepared this time and guns it as well. The neon tried to do the same thing he did before, but couldn't quite do it this time. He got a good jump but we pulled on him to about 150 when the neon shut down, we were 2 and half cars ahead. The srt4 immediatly took the next off ramp, which is a shame because I wanted to stick my hand out the window and wave at them, and my friend wanted to go from a honk to make it fair.

There are some other races, but those were the ones of note and closest. Other cars we killed that night in the Evo, a few mustang GTs, a 280ZX with a V8 of some kind in it, a few F-Bodys, and another SRT4 which was more stock than the red one.

great races. I like the longer ones better, as long as they make sense like this one did. You get more into the story.

Re: SSEi, Evo vs some cars..

Nice races. I would've never though of the Bonneville as a low 14, high 13 second car.

Yes, it is, when you see X.X" pulley in someone's mod list, chances are he isn't talking about his alternator pulley

Re: SSEi, Evo vs some cars..

Cool races!

That SRT-10 truck is no joke. I got beat by one on the freeway last month from about 70mph to 110mph. It wasn't a very long race but it was obvious he had the faster ride...from a roll.

You "feel" asleep? how can you "feel" asleep?

Think before you write something... it's already been discussed in another thread

EDIT: Forgot to say... Great story! Thanks.
