Hey i changed all the oils, plus fix the chattering problem!

Hello people,
Not posting a question this time haha.

i drive a 2000 bravada with about 74500 miles on it with no fluid change what-so-ever which explains why the gear oil that drained out was black, no joke. And the transfer case fluid was blu-ish black

Just happy that i change all the oils in my car today, and fix that chattering problem. Changing the transfer case fluid once stopped the chattering. Now making u-turns or tight turns the front end of the truck doesn't feel like its hopping and is not making that grinding/growling noise.

p.s Have a great day every day!
And heres what i learned.
1) 3 Quarts of gear oil is a little more than enuff for both front and rear diff. And 3 quarts of AutoTrak II is more than enuff.
2)The rear diiff screw is on side of the diff.(passenger side), also found out that a hex key CANNOT unscrew the bolt, just use a rachet with an extension, perfect fit. Its a square bolt, not hex.
3)Nappa sells a suction pump for 11.99 while autozone sell for 7.99.
4) Still can't remember which way to turn the bolt to loosen bolt
5) IF not using a jackstand, stretch for at least 15 min before crawling under the car, the bolts are tight and can def easily pull a muscle.
6) After the rear diff finish draining there is still a few more ounces in the diff. that didn't drain out, use the suction pump and get it out.

Nice!

I hope you used transmission fluid in the transfer case.

Re: Hey i changed all the oils, plus fix the chattering problem!

Yes, but not right at the moment seeing I am still doing the Auto-RX rinsing cycle for 3000 miles.

Then I will be back to synthetic permanently.

It sounds like he used Autotrack II for his transfer case which is correct (not automatic transmission fluid).

But aren't you running all synthetic fluid as in tranny fluid and everything else?

Just checked, yes, they can both be used although I would use ATF seeing it is cheaper.

Due to financial constraints, I can't switch them right now. I just had the diffs and the transfer case changed a little over a year and a half ago and the fluid is practically still new in them.

The transmission fluid was also changed but I could not afford the synthetic upgrade at the moment.

What kind of gain might be seen form that?

Re: Hey i changed all the oils, plus fix the chattering problem!

Fro the fluids, you might not see any improvement to slight improvement in warmer climates but where you will see a 2-3mpg difference is in the colder climates where temps drop less than freezing and lower.

Yep, ATF would have destroyed his transfer case.

ATF won't be cheaper in a Bravada after you've smoked the transfer case out of it....
