stator?

hey guys whats up

i have had a hell of a week

i had my house broken into on tuesday and my computer and camera was stolen... .. so thats been fun to deal with with school and all. and to top it off my bike broke down this weekend on a trip to denver.

i have figured out what is wrong though. the Stator (altenator for bike ??) and need to know where to find one other than the dealership ($370) ... i called my mechanic and he said they dont make aftermarket? ??? and it takes like 60-90 min (@ $50/hr)

so also how hard are they to install?????

thanks for all the help

and make sure u have renter's insurance (even though they are REALLY fucking stupid to deal with)

Well I don't have a 97 CBR (i got a 93), but it shouldn't be to hard to do it. Mine is located inside my left crankcase cover. After you pull the cover off it should be right there. I have 4 lock washers that you have to remove before you can get it out, but after that it shouldn't be to hard. I would say that it may take about and hour if you have a little mechanical knowledge about it. It could vary though.

Also on mine I have a rubber grommet that goes around the line that connects to the stator. This grommet is there to create a seal around the crank cover since the line runs through it. Make sure you put some sealant on the grommet (if you have one) before you put it back.
