Anyone buy their Rodeo w/100K clocked?
Just curious to see how many owners bought their Rodeo's at or close to 100K miles, and whether or not you've had problems or regret having bought it.
I'm the original owner of the current Rodeo - and keeping it, but am going to buy a 95.5 tonight, as well, with 99K. Being from a dealership, you can only get so much background info. Any pointers - aside from checking the fluids and overall feel?

Re: Anyone buy their Rodeo w/100K clocked?
Since it is at a dealer I would make a list of things you want changed (like fluids) before you buy the car.
Fluids are cheap, but when someone else does it for you the costs add up quickly. Also, have some cash ready to do some stuff yourself too. Other then that, your guess is as good as mine!

She had put over 13 quarts of oil in it.Smoked and knock. I didn't know that at the time . Changed oil and no problems since. Just the tick tick of the motor. But I guess everone with a 3.2 has that. But i will try some things people has used to stop this. Colbutt! |

Ramblin, I wish you luck my man! Just be sure not to pay too much from that dealer. I wouldn't cough up more than $4000-4500 max for a rodeo of that vintage/miles, plus keep in mind the 95.5 can be confusing for parts! As far as that 100K thing, most of my vehicle purchases have been used, but not over 36K miles. The way things are going lately, 3 kids (one brand spanking new) and costs skyrocketing, future vehicles purchased will likely have many more miles on them. Atleast the cars/trucks for me will
Hehhehee.. actually it's not such a bad thing?!?!G/luck Joel

Bought my 94 with 101k on it. Had to replce the starter, spark plug wires, t-belt tensioner, outer cv boots, and the auto hubs just went bad so I'll need to replce those. The only thing I don't like about it now is the gas it consumes.

Re: Anyone buy their Rodeo w/100K clocked?
Well, I got it
- along with a 2yr powertrain warranty, covers everything on the engine, transmission, 4x4 system, and steering components - that includes water pump, tensioner & belt as well.Truck is in superb condition, bought it from a John Elway dealership - not sure if you are all familiar with him/and his dealerships, but they pride themselves on thoroughly checked out/certified used cars. Any how, they went through and did all the fluids, belts, hoses, put on new CV Boots, tires, fixed two broken window regulators, and are going to do a front-end alignment on Saturday. I actually have a DIPSTICK for my auto tranny on this truck.Only thing that bugs me is the tailgate has some rust - probably never been waxed But being a Beige colored Rodeo, can't tell if it's faded or not. I have 3 days/150 miles to change my mind. Engine is QUIET Tranny shifts real nice and smooth.Nicest one I've seen for sale in town - only nicer ones I see are ones that people are not selling. Any other thoughts are welcome - thank you guys a bunch.

Sounds great! + a 2 year warranty to boot! That's awesome. How many miles does that warranty cover? (24K I'm guessing?) Is the 95.5 OBDII compliant? Better if it's not (more simplistic), but no biggie if it is. Some vechicles actually swapped over at 95-95.5 instead of 1996.
G/luck! Joel

Re: Anyone buy their Rodeo w/100K clocked?
Haven't touched the oil!
With the exception of checking the level - 1/4 qt over full. Came with a 2yr/30K mile warranty. Popped the hood, noticed this one is a OBD I compliant Now for my question, supposedly the 95.5 & the 97 3.2L's are the same engine, yes?? Well, how come it seems this 95.5 has instant pick-up/take-off power, I mean, you barely touch the throttle and it's hot on it's wheels? FWIW - the 97 has the stupid California emissions standard with OBD II; this 95.5 has regular federal emissions, no where on the truck does it say California and it's an OBD I. I've heard the California emissions takes away some of the power??

Re: Anyone buy their Rodeo w/100K clocked?
Yeah, I hear ya - respectively this one should easily have 150k or more. I truly lucked out on this one - but I have been looking long and hard, nearly giving up and almost going to a different kind of vehicle.
So fill me in, what's so different about the OBD I versus OBD II? And why is the OBD I easier?
