Question 1992 seville sts

I have a 1992 sts that has a few problems....first, periodically the dash displays with go blank and the service engine soon light will come on. When this happens i have no control over the airconditioning or the heating. The fan comes on like the car is going into stand by mode. Sometimes it comes back on and then off. I have been asking around and some people say its the heater control module..and some say that there may be some wiring problems....next is sometimes i cant start the car because of the security system...sometimes i turn the key and the security light stays on and i have to turn the key off. It then says to wait 3 minutes. I do that and sometimes it tells me to do it again. Its a pain in my rear end. If anyone has had the same problems or knows how i can solve them without spending alot of money i would really appreciate come advice.

Hi there,
I just posted same problem on my 92 Seville.
Exactly same problem. I hope somebody can help both of us.

Re: 1992 seville sts

Hey
I have a 92 Seville with the same dash and HVAC problem. I got a hold of the wiring diagram for the HVAC system for the car and the fan is controled by the Heater Control/Heater Power Unit, whatever you want to call it, but either way it is under the hood on top of the heater block. If that doesn't work, than it's a problem with your HVAC programmer. That unit is behind the glove box inside the car. That unit will run you at about $550 so if that is the problem than you might be better off to tough it out.

Hope that helps you out a bit

To answer your question about the security system and wait 3 minutes, you either have a problem w/the ignition key or the ignition cylinder. You might try cleaning the key/diode in key w/a moist cloth or try a spare key. If that doesn't work, most likely you will need an ignition cylinder.
