Re: engine swap

you really should look for posts about your question..that shits been talked about ALOT..yes its possible to put a 3.1 in your car...its possible to put a S/C grand prix engine in it if you want...its just getting the motor mounts custom done to make the engine to sit in the engine bay. shit you can even put a V8 in it

ANYthing is possible with a deep enough wallet

Re: engine swap

i know a guy that 3800'd a sunfire but sold it recently and i kind of know two guys form Nova Scotia on has the 3800 s/c in a cav and the other the 3400 dohc v6 in a cav vert. if you're gonna do a swap then do at leat the 3400. the 3100 has no real balls and you may aswell go for the 2.4. if the 3.1 you are set on then use 3400 heads. if you want a 5 speed on the 3400 use the 5 speed that came on the 3.1. it wont be an easy swap though. the guy i know with the sunfire was in to it about $15,000. lots of work and money. the instrument cluster has to be changed also for instance unless you keep you 2.2 pcm and wire all of the applicable sensor into the feeds for the instrmuent cluster you have now. good luck!

Re: engine swap

Better, easier, and cheaper to swap in a 2.4. More horespower, anyways. I do, however, miss the raw low-end torque of the 3.1, but the top end power on my 2.4 more than makes up for it.
