Replaced fuel pump but truck is stalling
My truck ran out of gas a few weeks back and began hard starting a couple of weeks later, then stopped starting altogether, just chugged. I replaced fuel filter with no success. Replaced pump tonight (after learning about the danger of running these vehicles below 1/4 tank) and the truck fired up but stalled within a few seconds. Each time subsequently I had the same result. It's clear that the pump needed replacing but is there a step I missed in here? Haven't been able to test fuel pressure yet. Would injectors have clogged at the same time pump went out?
I'd appreciate any help. Thanks. |

Re: Replaced fuel pump but truck is stalling
It is possible that your injectors were clogged from debris in your tank!
I had a 97' Silverado Z71 that needed the fuel pump replaced. My mechanic replaced the pump and filter, but prior to replacing them he had to clean out all the rust and other build-up in the fuel tank. I don't know if you cleaned your tank, if not you may want to do this along with replacing the filter with possibly cleaning your injectors. |

Thanks for reply. I didn't clean the tank out. I saw some sediment at the bottom but it looked pretty clear in there.
