Need help on styrene sheet size.
Hi,
Since it's hard to find styrene sheet in Malaysia, i'm going to order it through internet, so can u guys suggest which size should i buy (frequently use size). Before this i've used plastic card from ice-cream container and it's hard to form it to certain shape. |

Re: Need help on styrene sheet size.
The size isn't really important unless you make a really large part that requires a large area. Most of the US products are 6 x 12 in, while Tamiya makes some in the Japanese B4 format (257 x 364 mm). I assume you're ordering more than one item to save per-item shipping cost, so I suggest you get several kinds of thickness like 0.2 mm, 0.3 mm, 0.5 mm and 1.0 mm, the thickness I consider super-thin, thin, medium and thick in 1/24 scale modeling.

Re: Need help on styrene sheet size.
I agree: Order a selection of of sheets in different thickness, so you'll be able to use one to match that application.
Styrene rod, round and square, is pretty cheap, so you might want to pick up some of that too. The round rod sizes most commonly used are 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, and sometimes slightly larger. |
