90 lumina problems

a week or so ago i thought it would be cool (god knows why) to ride through a large puddle when i did sooo imediatly engine problems followed i lost a lot of horsepower when im in a certain gear and at certain rpms it will vibrate to the point where my cd's will skip and my gas mileage has decreased i have tried putting fuel injector cleaner and octane booster in it and changed the air filter also my muffler vibrates now in idle i was told that i got some water in something and that it will evaporate in a couple days and i'd be fine IT NEVER HAPPEND if anyone knows what can fix this please give me any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated

Get a can of WD40 or other water displacer, open the hood and spray every electrical connection you can find. You probably just blasted some water in an electrical connection. They will dry out on their own but it could take a day or two. If it's warm where you are, open the hood and let the sun help dry out the engine. Leave the hood open during the day as long as you can.

well i did it like two weeks ago and im still having the same problem

i hate to tell you this, but you sucked water into your engine, hydrolocked it, and probably bent a connecting rod. Water doesn't compress like air, so when the water entered the engine, it filled whatever cylinder was on the intake stroke, and when the piston came up on the compression stroke, it couldn't compress the water in the cylinder and bent the rod. You need a new motor, sorry!!!

That or maybe even a cracked block. To varify richtazz's theory, you can get a compression tester and check the compression on each of your cylinders.

About how deep of water puddle was this? I've hit some big ones before, but they have never messed up my car. The deepest was probably 6 inches. hmmmm, maybe I should quit doing stuff like that?????

it was about 6 - 8 inches deep it immediatley started backfiring and vibrating i didnt really see the harm in it but i guess that's my ignorance

i went to a mechanic he said that it was the same thing OR it was a coil of some kind i forgot exactly what he said but it's gonna run be about 400 bucks i guess yall can just learn from my mistake
