DIC Display

i have a 2000 gtp and about a month ago the left sideof my DIC display faded darker than the rest if i tap the dash or dispaly it came back and then the right side started to do the same thing, now both the left and right side are dim with the center lit and tapping it wont bring the display back.
so my question. is there bulbs that can be replaced inside the display or is it lcd?
i dont really want to replace the entire unit if that is possible.

actually yes there are bulbs you can replace, its the same bulb thats behind a stock acdelco sterio display, i had to replace the one behind by sterio, but i had to go to radio shack to get a bulb thats simmilar to the original and had to sodder it in, the bulb number i gave them was 7219, it might be different though since its for the DIC. you have to take out the DIC to get to the bulbs, the plastic beizel i think its called has to come off to get to it. hope i was some help.
